Improving the design of maternal and child health program in West Africa

For over ten years, a charitable foundation had been operating a maternal and child program in a large West African country covering approximately 200,000 women and children. In that period, the program has delivered substantial improvements in morbidity and mortality in a highly difficult and resource-constrained environment.

Since its inception, the program had been wholly funded through individual donations to the foundation. However, the foundation was keen to further expand its program while also developing newer, institutional sources of funding – including with the host country’s own government. HealthBridge was asked to conduct an evaluation to validate the outcomes achieved by the program and identify opportunities for improvement that could be implemented while approaching additional donors.
